Rowan-Salisbury’s Board of Education has called a special meeting to discuss the proposed dome on top of the new central office building Wednesday.

“We’re going to have to make a decision on the direction to go with that,” said Chairman Josh Wagner.

He added that the pricing on the project has gone up, and the board no longer has adequate funding to cover the feature.

“We need to decide how we want to go forward,” he said.

One option is to spend the next two to three weeks trying to raise the money needed to complete the project. The other is for the board to decide not to put a dome on the roof.

“It would look a little funny,” Wagner said. “The steel is already in place.”

If the board decides not to install the dome, they will have to have some sort of protection on the steel.

The board will meet Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the district’s administrative office, 110 South Long Street in East Spencer.
