The free tickets that will be offered for the Salisbury’s Symphony’s special 50th anniversary showing of  “The Sound of Music” will not be available at five downtown locations until Aug. 10.

“A Sound of Music Anniversary Celebration” will be held Aug. 21 at the Meroney Theater with special guest Daniel Truhitte, a Concord resident who played the role of Rolf in the 1965 movie musical starring Julie Andrews.

Admission is free to the event,  but seating is limited. The Meroney Theater seats 361 people. The downtown locations that will have tickets starting Aug. 10 include Textile Products, Anna Lu’s Children’s Consignment & Gifts, Maia’s Fashions, Salisbury Wine Shop and Creative Teaching Aids.

Truhitte will give an introduction to the 5:30 p.m. movie, and he and local “von Trapp family” performers will be leading the audience in songs throughout the showing. Truhitte also will hold a question-and-answer session after the movie, before singing his signature song “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and dancing with audience members under the outside marquee.
