Yadkin Grove installs new pastor

Yadkin Grove Baptist Church will celebrate the installation of the Rev. Stanley Rice as its new pastor on Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. Stanley James Rice graduated from West Rowan High School , served six years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and has been employed with Freightliner’s Cleveland Truck Manufacturing Plant for more than 20 years. Rev. Rice was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church for 25 years and served in many capacities, including deacon for 18 years, associate minister, moderator, trustee and deacon board chairman. He was ordained by the Rowan Baptist Association in 2014. Rev. Rice was unanimously voted in as senior pastor of Yadkin Grove Baptist Church on June 20.

 

Maranatha Bible Church homecoming

Maranatha Bible Church will celebrate God’s faithfulness at its 42nd homecoming on Sunday. Pastor Peter Newell, current pastor since February of 2013, will speak at 10 a.m., followed by a covered dish dinner after the service.

There will be no evening service. Maranatha Bible Church is located at 2320 Statesville Boulevard.

 

Homecoming at Pine Ridge 

Pine Ridge Baptist Church will celebrate its 67th  homecoming on Sunday. Because it is a special day, the schedule has changed. The service will begin at 10 a.m. with music by 4Ever 4Given from Richfield.

At 11 a.m. Brother Todd Tucker from Richfield will bring the message, followed by lunch in the fellowship hall. There will be no  Sunday school and no evening worship.

Mission House Church begins

Mission House Church will launch its weekly worship gatherings at Isenburg Elementary School on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. “Make War” is the title of the new series that begins on Sunday.

MissionKIDS will begin its new series, “Suit up,” in the new meeting place. All kids, ages birth through 5th grade, are invited to wear a favorite superhero shirt or costume and be ready to learn about God’s armor.

Christiana Lutheran 144th homecoming

PIC Christiana Lutheran Church will celebrate its 144th homecoming on Sunday. The Rev. Dr. John Bradosky, Bishop of the North American Lutheran Church, will be the guest preacher. Bishop Bradosky was re-elected Bishop for a second term at the NALC convocation in Dallas, Texas. Bishop Bradosky has 36 years of pastoral experience and is a graduate of Hamma School of Theology at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pa.

The homecoming festivities at Christiana will begin at 9 a.m. with breakfast in the basement where Bill Burgin and Nathan Coyle will present Christiana’s master site plan.

10:30 a.m. worship will be led by the Rev. Carl Haynes. Bishop Bradosky will preach, Ann Shive will be the guest organist and the Chancel Choir will sing. Following worship will be a covered dish luncheon.

The Rev. Carl M. Haynes is pastor and Becky Morris is the music director. Christiana is located five miles east of Interstate 85 at 6190 US Highway 52near East Rowan High School.

 

Third Creek AME Zion

CLEVELAND — The Christian Education department of Third Creek AME Zion Church, 415 E. Main St., will observe Christian Education Sunday tomorrow. The theme for 2015-16 is “Excellence without Excuse.”

The speaker for the 11 a.m. service will be newly appointed Christian Education Director of the Salisbury District, Jeanette Rankin, who is a member of South Iredell AME Zion Church in Troutman. The Rev. Harold Jordan is pastor.

 

Gospel Voices at Shiloh UMC

Calvary Lutheran Homecoming

SPENCER — Calvary Lutheran Church, 303 Fifth St., will observe its 110th anniversary and 30th homecoming on Sunday beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The Rev. Randall Cauble, who served as pastor from 1986-1991, will return to be guest preacher. Pastor Cauble is currently the pastor at New Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Hickory. A covered dish luncheon will follow the service.

100th G.A. at Lilly’s Chapel Church of God

The 100th annual General Assembly for the Northern, Northwestern and Southern Dioceses of The Church of God Founded by Jesus Christ Inc. will convene at Lilly’s Chapel Church of God Wednesday, Sept. 23 through Sunday, Sept. 27. First Calvary observes Men’s Day

PIC   First Calvary Baptist Church will observe Men’s Day at the 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday. The Rev. John K. Bankhead Jr. will be the speaker.

Rev. Bankhead received his license at First Baptist Church of Kannapolis and was ordained by the Lane Creek Association of Ministers. He is currently serving as associate minister at Jerusalem Baptist Church of East Spencer under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. David L. Bracken. Rev. Bankhead, a native of Kannapolis, is a much decorated veteran of the U. S. Army and is also a chef with Embassy Suites of Concord.

St. Luke Baptist hosts music service

New study at Prospect Presbyterian 

MOORESVILLE — “An Evening Walk With Christ” begins at Prospect Presbyterian Church, 9425 WNC 152, on Sunday, Sept. 27 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for nine weeks.
