Friday night, Downtown Salisbury Inc. will roll out its popular 1st Friday event: Buskers~Bash! This event attracts nearly 50 ‘buskers’, or street performers, to the streets of Salisbury, who play to win your vote. Performers include singer/songwriters, guitarists, saxophone players, magicians and even a HangPan player!

Attendees to this free event get a Pick-Pack that includes five custom Buskers~Bash guitar picks to use for voting for your favorite performer, and a walking map that takes visitors throughout the grid of downtown sidewalks to all the performer locations.

Each official Buskers~Bash performer will have a bright orange Busker-Bucket and a ‘Vote for Me’ poster. Attendees vote for their favorite by tossing an official guitar pick in the performer’s bucket.

All participating shops and restaurants are open from 5 until 9 p.m. and are offering crazy specials! Buskers perform from 6 until 8 p.m. At 8 p.m. the buckets are collected, votes are counted, and attendees and performers are invited to the Grand Finale at Uncle Buck’s All American Pub & Grub at 127 S. Main Street at 9 p.m. to hear winners announced. Winners include first, second and third place prizes and up to four honorable mentions. Winners receive cash prizes, Downtown Dollars, gift certificates and more.

The First Prize Best~Busker also receives the opening gig at the Sept. 26 Music-at-the-Mural concert in downtown Salisbury.

Attendees can pick up Pick-Packs at any of three Buskers~Bash tents at Queen’s Gifts (221 S. Main St.), the Salisbury/Rowan Visitors Center (204 E. Innes St.) and on the lawn of the Rowan Museum (202 N. Main St.).
