Storm knocked down tree limbs, power lines

Thursday evening’s thunderstorm in Salisbury plunged much of the West Square Historic District and the West End, including Livingstone College, into darkness when a huge tree limb fell onto power lines in the 1000 block of West Horah Street.
The street was blocked off between Lloyd and Institute streets. About midway up the tree on the left, you can see where the limb snapped off.
Utility crews were working on lines farther west on Horah Street when this photo was taken about 7:45 p.m. Thursday. Around 8:15 p.m., Duke Energy reported 1,200 customers without power in the area.
