Prep Football: East loses on road

CONCORD — East Rowan lost at Cox Mill in South Piedmont Conference action on Friday, 34-21.
Cox Mill scored 31 unanswered points and picked up its first win of the season.
Max Wall scored two touchdowns for East Rowan (1-3, 0-2 SPC).
Cox Mill is 1-2 overall, but 1-0 in the SPC.
East’s first touchdown came on a fumble return by Bravon Goodlett and provided a 6-0 lead in the first quarter.
But Cox Mill led 17-6 by the end of the quarter and maintained that lead until halftime.
The Mustangs found themselves behind 34-6 after Devin Cobb and Justin Griffin caught long TD passes from Nico Cleaves for the Chargers, and Cleaves also ran for a score. Tyler Arnold scored on a 67-yard run. John Brosnahan kicked two field goals.
With the Mustangs trailing 31-6, Wall caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Tate Houpe, and freshman Sam Wall caught a two-point conversion pass from Houpe.
Max Wall scored on a 38-yard run in the fourth quarter, and K.P. Patterson booted the PAT.
