Phillip Karriker provided this newspaper clipping from Oct. 30, 1955, which shows his father, Mitchell Karriker, left, explaining to Kannapolis reporter Randolph S. Hancock the importance of the Corriher Grange building. The Corriher Grange often served as a place for farmers and families from the Concordia community to gather. Concordia, which can be freely translated in Latin as people living in a state of agreement and harmony, is located in the southwestern part of Rowan County off N.C. 152, generally in today’s Atwell Fire District.
