Messages of sympathy flooded Todd Jones’ Facebook page Wednesday.
“RIP my friend,” one said. “You were an awesome … sweet guy with a wonderful smile for everyone.”
Injured in a motorcycle accident Friday night, Jones died early Wednesday at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The 46-year-old diesel mechanic was riding his motorcycle north on Old Concord Road around 10:05 p.m. Friday, when a dog ran into the road and the motorcycle hit it, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Jones lost control of the motorcycle, ran off the road to the right and came to rest on the northbound shoulder, the patrol report said. Rowan EMS transported him to CMC NorthEast and he was airlifted to the Charlotte hospital.
The accident happened a half mile north of Scercy Road. Trooper R.T. Coward investigated.
