Sheehan SAC player of the week

Catawba quarterback Mike Sheehan was named South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Indians to a 35-7 win against Davidson on Saturday.
Wingate defensive end Nick Napolitano was named SAC Defensive Player of the Week , while Wingate kicker Patrick Smith picked up SAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Sheehan connected on 12-of-13 passing attempts for 174 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 56 yards.
Catawba linebacker Jamal Lackey (Davie) was a nominee for defensive honors.
• Charleston quarterback John Knox (Salisbury) threw for 163 yards and a TD and added a rushing TD in a 42-12 win against West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday.
• Quentin Sifford (West Rowan) made two tackles for West Liberty in a 38-13 loss to Shepherd on Saturday.
• Guilford senior defensive end Jordan Farmer (Davie) was the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week.
Farmer posted seven tackles in Guilford’s 52-0 home win over Greensboro and forced two fumbles, one that was returned for a TD,
Salisbury lost 2-1 to CATA in Monroe on Monday in a rematch of last season’s playoff game. CATA had a dozen free kick opportunities and scored on two of them.
Salisbury (3-4) fell behind 1-0 10 minutes into the match on a direct free kick goal from just outside the top of the box.
Landon Goodman’s goal on an assist by Jamie Henriquez made it 1-1 at the half.
Salisbury missed an opportunity on a penalty kick.
Salsibury got outstanding play from Pedro Cruz, Christian Uribe, Reilly Gokey, and Joshua Lynch. Keeper Arturo Ramirez notched 11 saves.
“The bottom line is we need to learn how to win,” SHS coach Matt Parrish said. “We’ve got the toughest schedule Salisbury’s had in 15 years and the vast majority of our non-conference matches are against playoff teams. Our players are fighting every second of each match and maintain the belief that the schedule will ultimately make us a more competitive, refined team.”
CATA jayvees defeated SHS 3-0.
• East Rowan won 3-2 against Mount Pleasant.
Ian Bradshaw, Bryant Stewart and Brock Stewart scored goals for the Mustangs. Sal Sanchez had two assists.
