Amanda Dana Raymond of Concord has joined the Salisbury Post news staff to cover education.
She will cover public and private schools, area colleges and more. The town of Spencer will also be part of her beat.
Raymond is originally from Philadelphia, Pa. Her parents were born and raised in Haiti. The family moved to Concord several years ago, and Amanda graduated from Central Cabarrus High School.
She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May with a double major in journalism and mass communications and psychology and a minor in English literature.
Besides writing, she likes to spend time with family and friends, read fiction novels and watch television and movies.
The Post’s previous education reporter, Jeanie Groh, left the Post at the end of August to take a position with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
