Cub Scout Pack 443 Webelos II recently had its Arrow of Light Recognition Ceremony on Jan. 9 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, with 15 Webelos Scouts from six packs in Rowan County present. This special ceremony was begun 16 years ago by the late Oscar Garver, and is the only one like it in the Central N.C. Council. The Scouts were entertained by and participated in Mr. Bill Ragsdale’s Wonderful World of Magic; were each presented with their own Field Book; and dined on delicious desserts.
Webelos Scouts recognized that night included the following.
Pack 443: Alex and Ben Blumenthal, Matthew Fesperman, Nathan Gorrell, Michael Hollar, Seamus Ratliff, Daniel Sloop;
Pack 401 – J.P. Vaeth, Dylan Myers, Patrick Rattz;
Pack 442 – Nikolas Wolfe;
Pack 301 –Ward Bond;
Pack 306 – Joseph Kolbasowski III, Austin Latva; and
Pack 375 – Trevor Hunsucker.
The year was wrapped up with another successful Popcorn Drive and a Christmas Party, and Scouts also participated in giving gifts for Angel Tree.
The Pinewood Derby is scheduled for Jan. 26 and our Blue and Gold Banquet for Feb. 24, where Webelos II Scouts bridge over to Pack 443 Boy Scouts. It is no surprise that Pack 443 is the four-time winner of the Cub Cup in the Rowan District.
Cub Scout Pack 443 holds weekly den meetings Monday nights at St. John’s Lutheran Church from 6:30-8 p.m.
