Salisbury Police officials have confirmed the identity of a motorcyclist killed this weekend in a two-vehicle collision on Bendix Drive as 47-year-old James Henry Githens Jr. of Granite Quarry.
Police said Githens was riding a 2014 Harley-Davidson leaving Tilley Harley-Davidson when a Chevrolet passenger car driven by Shawn Dale Anderson, 42, of Lexington, made a left turn into the Economy Inn hotel parking lot and into the path of Githens. Police have not said if Anderson will face charges. The case is still under investigation.
The crash happened at 5:15 p.m. Saturday. Githens died at the scene.
Police said late Saturday that Githens was believed to have been a customer of the Harley-Davidson store.
