Livingstone’s men’s and women’s teams were announced as the CIAA Southern Division favorites for the upcoming season.
Livingstone guards Eric Dubose and Ty Newman were named to the men’s preseason All-CIAA team.
LC guard Amber Curtis was picked for the women’s preseason All-CIAA team.
Fayetteville State’s Doreen Richardson (Salisbury) also was named to the team.

John Knox (Salisbury) intercepted a pass in Charleston’s 29-21 win on Thursday against Concord in ESPN’s Division II Game of the Week.

Hayden Moore threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score in his starting debut, and Cincinnati’s struggling defense held on for a 34-23 victory over Miami on Thursday night to end the Hurricanes’ streak of 10 straight wins over the Bearcats.
Michael Badgley made three Miami field goals Thursday but also missed from 51 and 53 yards as the Hurricanes repeatedly failed to reach the end zone.
Trailing by 11 points, the Hurricanes went for it on fourth-and-goal from the 5 instead of taking the field goal. Brad Kaaya’s pass was incomplete with 4:41 left.

College volleyball
Wingate swept Catawba 25-18, 25-13 and 25-18 on Friday.
Catawba (7-8, 4-4 SAC) was led by Erin Morant’s six kills.

College soccer
Pfeiffer coach Bo Reasso recorded his 400th career win on Thursday when the Falcons beat Tusculum.

Prep soccer
Colin Noone scored two goals and Keaton Clark had two assists as Cox Mill beat South Rowan 4-0 in SPC soccer on Thursday.

Prep golf
Carson’s Micah Furr was the medalist on Tuesday at Red Bridge Golf and Country Club. She led the way with a 38.

Prep volleyball
Salisbury lost to East Davidson 21-25, 25-17, 25-20, 21-25 and 15-12 in CCC volleyball on Thursday.
Juliana Anderson led the Hornets with 20 kills, 19 digs and 10 blocks.
Jane Miller had seven kills, 13 digs, and two aces. Abby Lee was a standout on defense. Lora Withers had 25 assists. De’Leon Duren had three kills and seven blocks.

Salisbury’s JV team lost to East Davidson 2-0. Ariyan Duren Williams led the Hornets with four kills. Kaya Twitty had four assist and three digs.

8th-grade football
West Rowan won 44-8 against Southeast.
West Rowan (4-0) scored a touchdown on every offensive play.
Jalen Houston scored on runs of 51, 53 and 80 yards and had 184 yards on three carries. Gerquavius Weeks added a 53-yard run on his only touch, while TyKese Warren scored from 29 yards out on his only carry.
Zach Miller scored on a fumble return of 34 yards.
Federico Cruz added four PAT kicks.
Warren recovered three fumbles and had four tackles for loss. Dylan Sigmon, Mike Molenda, Jay Joseph, Calub Pope, Weeks, Houston, and Drake Martin. The win was the 25th straight for coach Erich Epps, dating back to September, 2012.
Mid. school tennis
Knox defeated Southeast 7-2 on Thursday.
Singles winners for Knox were Lillie Rusher, Anna Grace Woolly, Quinnlan Watson, Elle Kennedy, Meredith Burton and Gabby Fisher. The team of Alli Tuck/Maggie Alexander won in doubles.
