St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St., is hosting a Palestinian Art Exhibit now through Nov. 20. The opening reception is set for this Friday, Oct. 9, in Peeler Hall from 7 to 9 p.m.
More than two dozen paintings are on display, and all are for sale.
The event is the result of a partnership between St. John’s and its mission partner, Christmas Lutheran Church. Many of the artists were trained at Dar Al-Kalima University College of Arts
and Culture in Bethlehem, one of many
ministries sponsored through the Diyar Consortium. Bright Stars of Bethlehem, based in the U.S., serves as Diyar’s fundraising organization.
The exhibit is made possible by a grant from the St. John’s Benevolent Foundation. In September 2014, the congregation hosted a community luncheon featuring Palestinian chefs trained at Dar Al-Kalima.
