WOODLEAF HIGH SCHOOL  60th CLASS REUNION

Submitted

The Class of 1955, Woodleaf High School had its dreams!  Twenty five class members met, Saturday, October 10, 2015 in the Fellowship Hall of Unity Presbyterian Church at Woodleaf to celebrate.  The members, spouses and friends in attendance enjoyed a buffet meal prepared by the Woodleaf United Methodist Church Women.

A welcome was given by Julia Safley Lipe, who also served as chair of the business meeting.   Rev. Walter Fleming gave  a devotion on “joyful hope” and blessed our meal.

Nancy Miller Wetmore called the roll. Each graduate was given a chance to update the class on their lives.  A bell sounded and a candle lit when a deceased name was called.  There were fourteen pink roses decorating the memorial table with a framed picture with a hand crafted cross for each member. Memorials were given by Geralene Campbell Newton and Donnie Gullett Whitesides for the fourteen deceased members out of a class of 40 members. The roses were placed in the sanctuary of Unity Presbyterian Church on Sunday as a memorial to William S. “Bill” Wetmore, Jr. who was a member of the class.

The group meets quarterly, and will continue to meet.  The next meeting will be held at the K & W Cafeteria on January 13, 2016 at 11:30 am. Nancy Wetmore will act as chair to remind the group of the get together.

The Class of 1955 dedicated the annual to Miss Catherine Brazell, our long time and much loved Bible teacher whose teaching impacted the group. To help carry on the work we have been sending a memorial to the West Rowan Bible Teaching Association when a member of the class dies.

Those attending were; Doris Allen and daughter Cathy A. Boles,  Colleen Wilson Belk, Janet Brown, Rev. Fleming and wife, Jean,  Candace Owens Fraley,
