A Salisbury man was found dead in the bedroom of an apartment in the Colonial Village apartment complex Thursday morning in an incident police say is not random.
Antonio Montreal Chambers, 25, was the victim, police said.
According to a press release from the Salisbury Police Department, officers were called at 3:43 a.m. to 231 D Ave., Colonial Village apartment 43, in reference to someone being shot. When they arrived, the officers found Chambers dead in the bedroom. Officers confirmed he had been shot.
A woman and two children were also in the apartment at the time. None of them were hurt, according to Capt. Shelia Lingle.
Chambers did not live in the apartment, according to his grandmother, Lois Chambers.
Family members began gathering at the apartment complex as early as 4 a.m., she said.
“We want to see if it’s really him,” Chambers said.
She said Antonio Chambers smiled a lot, and was a “good-hearted person.”
“He had enough love for everyone,” she said.
His aunt, Jancinia Ingram, said she didn’t know why someone would want to kill him.
Criminal investigators were following up on leads Thursday.
Authorities ask anyone with information about the crime to call the Salisbury Police Department at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245. These calls can be made anonymously.
