Belk’s Fall Charity Sale on Saturday, Nov. 7, provides an opportunity for customers to support local charities while taking advantage of special discounts of 20 to 70 percent off purchases made during the four-hour event from 6 to 10 a.m.

In return for buying a $5 ticket, customers get great buys on rarely discounted merchandise and other items throughout the store. Plus, customers receive a $5 credit on one of their Charity Sale purchases, offsetting the cost of the ticket. Charities get to keep 100 percent of the proceeds from each $5 ticket sold.

The first 100 customers in each store on the morning of Charity Sale will receive free Belk gift cards ranging in value from $5 to $100, and a chance to win one of three $1,000 Belk gift cards awarded company-wide.

“Our biannual Charity Sale is a win-win for Belk and the communities we serve,” said Jessica Graham, vice president, communications and community relations at Belk. “The upcoming Charity Sale event is a great opportunity for our customers to get great bargains on our latest fall fashions and top brands and at the same time benefit their favorite local charities. It’s one of many ways that Belk reinforces its long-standing commitment to community involvement and charitable giving.”

Fall Charity Sale tickets are being sold by participating non-profit organizations, and tickets may also be purchased at Belk stores. All revenues from in-store ticket purchases are equally divided among participating charities and schools in each local store. In addition, all Charity Sale participants will be entered into a drawing to win one of three $1,000 cash awards (one in each of the three Belk operating divisions) for their school or non-profit organization.

Last year, the two Belk Charity Sale events raised more than $10 million for thousands of schools and community nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations in Belk markets.

Carson High School Marching Band: Band promotes responsibility and teamwork among students that share a love of music.

Charlotte Cocker Rescue: Charlotte Cocker Rescue,Inc., is a nonprofit organization with a commitment to rescue cocker spaniels.

China Grove Rotary Club: Club members work to solve some of the communities’ toughest challenges. Their efforts are supported by Rotary International.

Church Women United: Church Women United is a racially, culturally, theologically inclusive Christian women’s movement, celebrating unity in diversity and working for a world of peace and justice.

Daymark Recovery: Daymark Recovery Services Inc. is a mission driven, community provider of culturally sensitive mental health and substance abuse services.

Happy’s Farm Inc: Happy’s Farm in Salisbury was established in 2007 by Rhonda Stirewalt, a math and science teacher in the Rowan-Salisbury School System. Her goal was to establish a relaxed Western town setting in which children could come for affordable academic tutoring and child care. The farm is named after William “Happy” Trexler, Stirewalt’s great grandfather and the first owner of Happy’s Lake.

Historical Society of South Rowan:  A non-profit, educational organization created to promote an awareness and understanding of the historical heritage of the South Rowan area.

Jobs For Life: Jobs for Life is a global nonprofit organization that engages and equips the local church to address the impact of joblessness through the dignity of work. By mobilizing a worldwide network of volunteers committed to applying biblically-based training and mentoring relationships, Jobs for Life helps those in need find dignity and purpose through meaningful work.

Miss Rowan County Scholarship Pageant:  Support will ensure that each Miss Rowan County Scholarship Pageant contestants and queens will have a well-rounded experience as they develop their own four points of the crown: service, success, scholarship and style.

Novant Health Foundation: An integrated system of physician practices, hospitals, outpatient centers and more.

Rockwell Lion’s Club: A legacy of community involvement. Since February 24, 1957, the Rockwell Lions Club has been contributing to the local and statewide community and plan on continuing their legacy well into the future.

Salisbury Speedsters: A track and field club which allows young people in Rowan County to engage in wholesome activity outside of the school year with a specific focus on track and field athletic events.

Working For Innocent Children: Children put a lot of hard work and energy into school, but are unable to graduate because of unpaid fees. Working For Innocent Children helps to reduce the monetary stress for school-aged children throughout North Carolina. Its purpose is to help kids achieve success in life.
