Salisbury rolled to a 9-0 victory against North Rowan in CCC soccer on Tuesday.
The Hornets (20-0-2, 9-0 CCC) ) won in in wet, miserable conditions.
Salisbury clinched its 12th consecutive CCC championship and has won 14 of the last 15. Former CCC member West Iredell won in 2003.
Senior Bryan Fragoso got the Hornets on the board early in the first half.
Also scoring for the Hornets were Reilly Gokey, Ahmedin Salcinovic, Cristian Uribe and Jared Ramirez.
Freshman goalkeeper Jack Fisher scored his first and second career goals in the first half.
Freshman midfielder William Austin closed the scoring with his first career goal 16 minutes into the second half.
Landon Goodman scored the 100th goal of his career.
Goodman is the fourth Hornet to reach that plateau, following Sappia Venn (150), Jacob Pace (109), and Bobby Cardelle (105).
Assists on the evening went to Goodman (3), Fragoso, Jared Ramirez, Josh Lynch and Brandon Ibanez.
Faulkner notched his second consecutive shutout in goal.
Salisbury played without starters Arturo Ramirez, Andrew Kalogeromitros, and Melvin Bonilla.
Next for the Hornets is the regular-season finale at second-place Lexington tonight. Game times for the doubleheader are 5:30 and 7 p.m.

Carson soccer
Carson (17-1, 16-1) won 4-3 at Robinson in SPC soccer on Tuesday and clinched a share of the league championship.
Scoring for the Cougars were Ricky Maldonado, Colton Correll, Brandon Flores and Yoris Venegas.
Correll and Maldonado had assists.
The Cougars are home Thursday against Northwest Cabarrus in the last game of the regular season, and they’ll shoot for an outright league title.

Prep volleyball
In the first round of the 1A playoffs, Gray Stone won 25-10, 25-8 and 25-6 against Blue Ridge.
Megan Frick had 11 kills. LeAnn Harward had 10 assists

Gray Stone (19-3) lost in the second round on Tuesday, falling to Mount Airy 24-26, 25-15, 25-22 and 25-16.
Roni Boss led the Knights with 16 kills. Frick had 13 kills. Harward had 15 assists, while Caroline Cody had 12 assists.

Charlotte Catholic beat Davie 25-17, 25-13 and 25-9 in the second round of the 4A volleyball playoffs on Tuesday.

NCHSAA
Golfer Samantha DeBusk of North Davidson and Michael Schmidt of Hendersonville High were winners of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards.
DeBusk, a junior on North Davidson’s girls team, shot an 85 last week in the NCHSAA 4A Western Regional tournament at Brushy Mountain in Taylorsville to qualify for the state championship event. What makes this noteworthy is she accomplished this playing in severe pain due to cracked ribs after an auto accident.
Schmidt led the Bearcats to a 56-42 football victory over Black Mountain Charles D. Owen in a regionally televised contest.
The senior quarterback carried the football 16 times for 163 yards and scored touchdowns on runs of 2 and 33 yards.
Through the air he connected on 15 of 22 passes for 303 yards and touchdowns of 10, 23 and 85 yards, to give him 466 yards in total offense.

Prep golf
Jennifer Chang of Raleigh Athens Drive earned the individual championship with an even par 72 on Tuesday in difficult conditions in the final round of the North Carolina High School Athletic association state 4A golf championships at Pinehurst number six.
A trio of golfers tied for second with 152 totals, including Kathryn Carson of Lake Norman, Caroline Cahill of Wilmington Laney and Sam Bennett of Wake Forest.
Raleigh Cardinal Gibbons shot 240-232 — 472 for the team championship.

Gina Kim of Chapel Hill led wire-to-wire and took the individual championship on Tuesday in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s 3A golf championships at the Red Fox Course at Foxfire Resort and Golf Club.
Kim carded a one-under par 71 on a chilly, rainy second day of play to go with Monday’s 68 that featured five birdies, four on the front nine.
Her 139 total, 5-under, was good for a six-shot advantage over two-time defending champion Siranon Shoomee of Lee.

College volleyball
Queens outlasted visiting Catawba to claim a five-set win in SAC volleyball action on Tuesday night at the Levine Center.
The Royals won 25-16, 21-25, 25-12, 19-25 and 15-8 to improve to 9-13 overall and 7-9 in the SAC.
The Catawba Indians fell to 11-12, 8-8.
McKenzie Garrison and Alex Hopper provided 10 kills each for Catawba.

College golf
Catawba freshman Trey Burton placed sixth at the Matt Dyas Invitational Men’s Golf Tournament.
West Georgia served as the host of the event held at the Oak Mountain Championship Golf Course.
Catawba was 11th as a team.
West Georgia shot 296-288 — 584 to win the event.

Victoria Hedrick followed her opening round 86 with an 81 on Tuesday, leading the Catawba’s women’s golf contingent at the Flagler Fall Slam.
Hedrick’s 167 put her in 76th place.

College soccer
A fast start for Limestone’s women (13-2) faded Tuesday night as the Saints fell 2-1 in drizzling rainfall at Catawba (4-12,2-8).
Senior Emily Auwarter tallied two goals to lead the Indians.
