Lyerly 75th Anniversary

Claude Whitson Lyerly and Pauline Cauble Lyerly of Granite Quarry are celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary this weekend. The couple was married in the old wooden Christiana Lutheran Church by the late Rev J. White Iddings on Oct. 27, 1940, and honeymooned at Niagara Falls.
Claude owned and operated the Fifty-Fifty Grocery in Salisbury for 45 years. Pauline worked as a secretary at East Rowan High School for 33 years. Turning 100 four years ago, Claude was featured on the front page of the Salisbury Post and again when awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by Governor McCrory this past year.
The couple have three sons, David and wife Mary Denton of Radford, Va., Donald and wife Debbie of Moncure and Brantley and friend Linda of Faith. They also have four grandchildren and several great-grandchilden.
