Every year, Providence Baptist Church provides hundreds of free Thanksgiving meals for families in need, and this year will be no different, coordinator Crystal Brown said.

Providence Baptist takes donations and hosts fundraisers throughout the year in order to provide a little bit of cheer to those who need it most. Last year, Brown says that over 300 people signed up for deliveries or meal pick-ups.

The meal is prepared in advance by volunteers and is served Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. People can drop by the church’s location at 620 Andrews St., Salisbury to eat in or pick up a plate and take it home. And those with mobility issues can call ahead of time to have a meal delivered.

Brown says the meals are packaged individually and contain: turkey, ham, dressing, gravy, creamed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, green beans and a dessert.

This year, Providence Baptist will also distribute free winter coats to those in need. Coats can be picked up at meal time or delivered with a meal.

Delivery requests must be placed by the Friday before Thanksgiving, Brown said.
