The East Spencer Police are hosting a motorcycle benefit ride this Saturday to raise funds for Randi Conard, the wife of East Spencer officer, David Conard.
Randi was paralyzed after she was hit by a car coming home on N.C. 150. A car hit the back of Conard’s car, causing the car to spin, cross the center lane and hit a utility pole.
The impact of the crash shattered Randi’s vertebrae, injuring her spinal cord and causing permanent paralysis. Conard remembers very little of the Aug. 20 crash.
The funds raised will assist the family with the cost of building wheelchair ramps, widening doors and other medical needs.
The fundraiser will begin at Tilley Harley-Davidson, 653 Bendix Drive, at 11 a.m. and end at the East Spencer Police Department, 105 S. Long St.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase with all proceeds to be donated to the Conard family.
Registration for this event will begin at 10 a.m. at Tilley Harley-Davidson. The cost is $20 per bike and $5 per passenger. All registration will be accepted the day of the event.
