Catawba athletics
Catawba placed two players on the Academic All-Super Region 2 football team.
Junior quarterback Mike Sheehan and senior wide receiver Gary Williams were among 23 players selected to the team.
Sheehan has a 3.97 GPA while majoring in business. He has been named to the Dean’s List four times and has twice been on the Presidential Honor Roll.
Williams is an accounting major with a 3.46 GPA. He has been named to the Dean’s List four times.

Marcia-Mariel Erhart and Dominik Brus made it two straight days with an individual win for Catawba in the Quad Meet featuring Catawba, Wingate, Limestone and Lenoir-Rhyne. Limestone hosted Saturday’s action at the Timkin Center. The Catawba men edged out Lenoir-Rhyne by one point for third place, while the women were fourth, 12 points behind the Bears.

Catawba swept visiting Coker in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action on Saturday afternoon at Goodman Gym. The Catawba Indians boosted their record to 14-13 overall and 11-9 in the SAC with a 25-19, 25-17 and 25-12 win. The Cobras fell to 4-22 and 1-19.
McKenzie Garrison led a trio of Catawba Indians with double figures in kills, collecting 13 to go along with 14 digs. Alex Hopper followed with 11 kills, while Erin Morant tallied 10 kills and three blocks. Bri Howard had nine kills and four blocks.

The Catawba cross country teams competed in the Southeast Region Championship on Saturday morning.
Wingate was the host.
Catawba freshman Abbie Adams earned all-region honors with her 18th place time of 24:05 in the women’s 6K event. The Catawba women finished the day in 16th position while the men landed in 17th. Twenty-five teams were scored in the women’s race, with 22 teams qualifying for scoring in the men’s 8K. Montevalllo claimed the team win in the women’s race. Mount Olive took the win for the men.
Adams is the third Catawba woman to earn all-region honors. The last Catawba runner to do so was Olivia Myers in 2008.
Gil Gilreath (NW Cabarrus) finished the race in 30th place for the Mars Hill men, breaking the tape in 34:53.00 as the final Lion in a scoring position. Mars Hill qualified for the nationals.

Pfeiffer athletics
Pfeiffer’s top-ranked men’s soccer team won its 20th in a row by beating Limestone 3-0.
Juan Sanchez, Nathan Regis and Mateo Garces Yepes scored for the Falcons.

Pfeiffer’s men’s basketball team won an exhibition against D-I North Carolina A&T.
The Falcons won 65-62 in overtime in Greensboro.
De’Vonte Jenkins pulled down 16 rebounds.
AJ Clark led the Falcons with 15 points. Silvere Aluko and Mike Smith added 12 each.
Sam Hunt scored a game-high 21 points for the Aggies.
