Authorities say a four-year embezzlement ended Thursday when a woman was charged by Mecklenburg authorities and arrested by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a Rowan Sheriff’s Office report, Anita Carol Morgan, 53, is accused of stealing more than $31,000 from her employer between June 2010 and May 2014. The report says Morgan was then employed by ALCOWA Inc., Atlantic Coast Waterproofing, a trade contractor in Charlotte.
Morgan used checks drawn from the company bank account and the company’s credit card used for business expenses “with the intent to injure, defraud and deceive,” according to the warrant. During a four-year period Morgan is accused of embezzlement and did “willfully misapply” a total of $31,724.03.
The warrant was issued by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and served by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office at Morgan’s Saw Road home in China Grove. According to the report, Morgan works as an accountant at Truck Fleet Painting Center.
Morgan was charged with corporate malfeasance and placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond.
