American Legion post donates $8,000 worth of items to VAMC

Salisbury’s Harold B. Jarrett American Legion Post 342 took advantage of a national American Legion program called Operation Comfort Warriors to provide $8,000 worth of comfort items for wounded, injuried or ill veterans served by the W. G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center.
On Wednesday morning, a group of Legionnaires from Post 342 as well as state and national American Legion representives delivered a vanload of items to the Voluntary Service Office at the VA Medical Center.
The items ranged from shoes, sweatshirts and toiletries to reading glasses, fishing tackle, iPods and art supplies. Some of the items will be incorporated into recreational therapy for recovering veterans.
