Landis’ Board of Aldermen will take a look at the next steps for bringing the Carolina Thread Trail to the town at its business meeting Monday.

The Carolina Thread Trail, comprised of greenways, trails and blueways, spans 15 counties in North and South Carolina and is designed for walking, biking and commuting.

“We’ve received a grant from the Thread Trail,” explained Town Manager Reed Linn.

The grant, which is for $50,000, will be used to cover the costs for preliminary planning and designing of the Thread Trail in Landis.

The proposed path follows Grant Creek between West Ryder Avenue and Mount Moriah Church Road.

According to Linn, the Board of Aldermen will consider adopting a resolution supporting the draft of the countywide Thread Trail plans.

“Our board has always been very supportive of the Thread Trail,” he said, adding that it will connect downtown Landis to the South Rowan YMCA and public library.

The Board of Aldermen will also review its annual year-end audit of the town’s finances, as well as discuss whether or not to close City Hall at noon on Nov. 25 for the town’s annual Christmas Parade.

Linn added that the board will discuss its policy on business expansion and job creation, which has been in place since the late 1990s.

The Board of Aldermen will meet Monday at Landis City Hall at 7 p.m., 312 S. Main St. in Landis.
