Last day to apply for help is Saturday

Families who need help getting gifts for their children this Christmas have one more day to apply through the Rowan County Christmas Bureau — this Saturday.
Volunteers with the bureau will take applications from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the J.F. Hurley YMCA on Jake Alexander Boulevard.
This is the last day to apply for assistance for Christmas Happiness, the Salvation Army, Toys for Tots and Project Santa.
Applicants should bring identification and documentation for all children. Only a child’s parent or legal guardian may make application.
They will be asked to prioritize their children’s needs — food, clothing or toys — and to share sizes and preferences. Requests will be assigned to the appropriate program. Gifts and vouchers will be distributed later this month.
The Christmas Bureau is coordinated by the Rowan County United Way.
