Davie comeback nips Reagan

MOCKSVILLE – Davie County, down by as many as 16 points, rallied to defeat Reagan, 66-65, here Tuesday night in a Central Piedmont Conference game.
Davie (6-2, 1-1 CPC) used a 22-8 third-quarter advantage to go up, 50-48, and set up a back-and-forth final period.
Down, 65-64, with nine seconds left, Davie guard Nic Starnes hit Jordan McDaniel with a back-door pass for the game-deciding layup. Reagan had two seconds to attempt a shot, but its half-court try fell short.
McDaniel led the War Eagles with 17 points, while Heath Slabach and Cooper Wall scored 12 each. Starnes added 10 points.
Reagan (3-4, 0-2) was led by J. McClurney’s 27 points and J.C. Culbreath’s 15.
