Salisbury Police say they charged a Faith woman Saturday with shoplifting at Walmart and drug possession. The woman had a small amount of heroin in her purse and various pills.
Jessica Nichole Nesbitt, 22, of the 400 block of East Second Street, was charged with misdemeanor shoplifting, felony possession of heroin and two counts of misdemeanor simple possession of a schedule II controlled substances.
Officials said the store’s loss prevention officer had detained Nesbitt after spotting her on store security video slipping cosmetic items and items from the boy’s department into a stolen book bag. She was also seen putting items into her purse.
She began to walk out of the store, but was stopped just before the entrance. Upon searching Nesbitt, officers found three syringes, four gabapentin tablets and two hydrocodone pills as well as a pocket knife. The pills were found inside a pill bottle labled for oxycodone. The heroin residue was found inside a piece of plastic.
The items taken were valued at $371.35 said Police Capt. Shelia Lingle.
Nesbitt remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond.
