Two animal-focused nonprofits are in the midst of a charitable drive to donate beds to the Rowan County Animal Shelter.

Maverick Pet Transportation and Faith, Hope and Love Animal Rescue have generated enough money to buy 17 pet beds, which they plan to donate to the Rowan Animal Shelter. Rick Roper, who runs Maverick Pet Transportation, said the drive started on Nov. 12. He aims to continue raising money for the pet beds indefinitely.

Roper’s group, which is coordinating the drive, is a 501 c3 nonprofit.

Roper is running the drive through Kuranda pet beds. Donations go directly to Kuranda, and Roper receives the beds.

He said the pet beds are important for animals during cold months. They’ll help animals get off of the cold concrete floors in the shelter.

An aluminum frame bed is $54 as part of the charitable drive. An aluminum frame bed is regularly $84. It’s $84 for a set of two cat beds.
