Blotter: Salisbury man charged in connection with TV theft

A Salisbury man was arrested this weekend after allegedly breaking into a house on West Monroe Street and stealing a TV.

Xavier Shykeem Simpson, 18, was arrested Friday on counts of breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering. Simpson, who lives on the 1300 block of Standish Street, allegedly broke into a house a couple blocks away from his apartment and stole a TV worth $500, according to warrants.

Simpson remained in jail Sunday afternoon under a $25,000 bond.

Salisbury Police made the arrest, and the incident was reported by Livingstone College’s Department of Public Safety.

• Tyler Formanek, 19, was charged Sunday with fraudulently burning a dwelling.

In Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reports:

• Andrew Micah Sifford, 29, was charged Friday with assault on a child under 12, assault on a female, communicating threats and interfering with emergency communications.

• Jeremy Edward Austin, 30, was charged Saturday with cruelty to animals.

• Deontae Corrothers, 23, was charged Friday with possession of a controlled substance while on prison or jail premises and possession of marijuana up to one half ounce.

• Steven Douglas Helms, 44, was charged Saturday with misdemeanor child abuse and driving while impaired.

In other reports:

• Milton Lowe, 56, was charged by the Kannapolis Police Department Friday with assault on a female, communicating threats and resisting a public officer.
