‘War Room’ tonight

KANNAPOLIS — There will be a free showing of the movie “War Room” at North Kannapolis Baptist Church, 312 Locust St., this evening at 5:30 p.m. in McMurray Hall. From the award-winning creators of “Fireproof” and “Courageous” comes a compelling drama with humor and heart that explores the power that prayer can have on marriages, parenting, careers, friendships, and every other aspect of life. Adult Faith Formation program

There is an Adult Faith Formation program offered each Sunday from 9:15-10:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the music and art room of the school. The program includes video presentations by Bishop Robert Baron followed by discussion. The series is called “Catholicism.” All are welcome.

 

Fourth Sunday at Mount Zion UCC

CHINA GROVE – Sunday morning begins at Mount Zion UCC, 1415 South Main St., 9:30 a.m. in the new building with breakfast provided by Pat Corriher and her team. The Fourth Sunday Program is on “Esther” and God’s people not keeping “… silence at such a time as this.” During the 11 a.m. service the children’s choir will sing, and the Rev. Mark L. Burns will continue his Epiphany Series. Afterward the youth fellowship will meet for lunch and head out to visit homebound and shut-ins from the church family.

Special day at Cedar Grove AME Zion

The Cedar Grove AME Zion Church Buds of Promise will observe Marie L. Clinton Day on Sunday during the 11 a.m. service. The theme is “Do You Know Who’s Calling You.”

Delaylah Watson, daughter of Tashelia Bennett, granddaughter of Dellery Bennett and goddaughter of the Rev. Eddie and Barbara Fortson, will be the speaker. Delaylah is a second grader at Royal Oaks Elementary School where she is a straight-A student. Delaylah has a sister, Tatyana and a brother, Cedric.

The Buds of Cedar Grove will also participate in the worship service. Margaret Ellis is the Buds Superintendent at Cedar Grove and the Rev. Dr. Bertha E. Pittman is pastor.

 

14th anniversary at God’s Tabernacle

ROCKWELL — The Disciples of God’s Tabernacle for Believers Ministry, 304 W. Main St., will celebrate their 14th anniversary on Sunday at 3  p.m. Guest speaker will be Dale White, pastor of Gray’s Chapel United Church of Christ in Statesville. Reginald McConneaughey Sr. and Frenchie McConneaughey serve as pastor and co-pastor.

 

Erwin Temple annual program 

The Usher Board of Erwin Temple Church will have its annual program at 3 p.m. Sunday. There will be four guest ministers to speak on The Four Gospels, Matthew, Mark Luke and John:  Minister Sharon Smoot from Ambassadors For Jesus Christ Church of Cleveland; Minister Jeffrey Allen from Shady Grove Baptist Church of Mount Ulla; Minister Jennifer White from New Shepherd Baptist Church of Cooleemee; and Elder Kevin Stockton from Freedom United Church of God of Woodleaf.

There will be gospel singing. The Rev. Ervin L. Hannah Jr. is host pastor.

Everybody birthday party at Piney Grove

MOCKSVILLE — Piney Grove AME Zion Church will host an Everybody Birthday Party on Saturday, Jan. 30 from 4-8 p.m. It will be held at the Carolina Bible Retreat Center, 1988 Jericho Church Road. Festal Chorale Evensong

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will host a service of Festal Choral Evensong to celebrate and dedicate its new organ and recently completed renovation project. The event will be Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at the church, 131 W. Council St. and will be officiated by the Right Rev. Whayne Hougland, 27th rector of St. Luke’s and the Rev, Robert Black, 28th rector of St. Luke’s.

The organ prelude by Dr. Mark Ardrey-Graves will begin at 5 p.m.

A reception will follow in the parish hall.

 

Human trafficking seminar

GRANITE QUARRY — Granite Quarry Fellowship, 111 S.
