‘Everybody Birthday Party’ at Piney Grove

MOCKSVILLE — Piney Grove AME Zion Church’s Everybody Birthday Party is today from 4-8 p.m. at the Carolina Bible Retreat Center, 1988 Jericho Church Road, with entertainment by The Echoes of Christ, fellowship, fun, prizes and dinner. Tickets will be available at the door.

 

Benefit program for Williamson 

CLEVELAND — A benefit program for Jeff Williamson Sr. will be held at Cedar Grove AME Zion Church beginning at 5 p.m. today. In- and out-of-town groups will participate. The Rev. Dr. Bertha Pittman is host pastor.

 

Fifth Sunday at Guiding Light

EAST SPENCER — The Guiding Light Missionary Baptist Association will conduct its Fifth Sunday Fellowship Service on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m. at the Guiding Light Convention Center, located at 308 Boundary St. The 11 a.m. guest speaker will be motivational speaker Lucille Ledbetter. Host pastor is the Rev. John E. Jones, moderator.

 

Concordia health fair

Concert to benefit ROCOC

The band Raising Glory will perform in concert Sunday night to benefit the Rowan One Church One Child Ministry. The concert is Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Old Shaver School, 14910 Stokes Ferry Road.

Donations for Rowan One Church One Child will be accepted during this evening of southern gospel music.

Rowan One Church One Child is a partnership between Rowan County Department of Social Services and Rowan County churches whose purpose is to ensure healthy, safe and protective outcomes for Rowan County children and teenagers who are victimized and traumatized by sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, neglect, or dependency who are currently receiving child protective, in-home case management, foster care or adoption services from the Children Services Division. ROCOC’s goal is to keep birth families intact or assist relative caregivers and foster parents who provide care to children.

Storyteller at St. John’s

Storyteller Phil Ruge-Jones will present the Gospel of Mark at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Faith Center of St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St., in Downtown Salisbury.

Ruge-Jones, an associate professor of theology at Texas Lutheran University, and a member of the Network of Biblical Storytellers, performs the entire Gospel of Mark from memory. See and hear the Good News of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection in a way you’ll never forget.

The event is free and the public is invited. The Rev. Rhodes Woolly is senior pastor, and the Rev. Danielle DeNise is pastor for discipleship.

Southside and Community Baptist host joint program

Southside Baptist Church will be hosting “To Make A Difference” in conjunction with Community Baptist Church on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. The program consists of a light breakfast, door prizes and Christian entertainment. A $1 donation per person is requested.

Southside Baptist Church is located at the intersection of Jake Alexander Blvd. and Morlan Park Road.

 

In My Father’s House Outreach Ministries

In My Father’s House Outreach Ministries, led by the Rev. Roosevelt Jenkins, continues its series on The Purpose Driven Life, on Thursday, Feb. 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Hurley Room at Rowan Public Library, 201 W. Innes St.
