A Buffalo Wild Wings is proposed to move into Salisbury.

According to a site plan submitted to the City of Salisbury in early December, a new Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant is proposing to move into the property where the Pancho Villa’s restaurant is right now. The building that the restaurant occupies is proposed for demolition with a new three-unit building being constructed in its place, according to an email from Development Services Manager Preston Mitchell.

Pancho Villa’s is planning to move to a new location across the street from where it is now, at 1510 Stokes Ferry Rd.

Juan Santiago, owner of the restaurant, said the restaurant will close on Jan. 31 and hopes to reopen at the new location in early February.

Santiago said the costs of constantly repairing the old building were getting too expensive.

David Phillips, zoning administrator and project manager for the site, said the technical review commission has made its comments on the site plan. Once the necessary changes are made and the preliminary site plan is approved, the developers will compile construction documents for submission to the city.

Phillips said because the property is close to Interstate 85, it is more appealing for businesses.

“The proximity to the interstate is what a lot of these front-row type restaurants are looking for,” he said.

Buffalo Wild Wings looked at other sites in Salisbury, but did not find one that met their needs until now.

Phillips said he does not know who will be moving into the two other units of the new building, but he said the developers did lead him to believe that another food service establishment may occupy one of the other units.
