Salisbury-Rowan CWU met on Saturday, Jan. 16 at Jerusalem Baptist Church to make plans for 2016.

Thirty women representing Catholic, Baptist, Episcopalian, Presbyterian, United Methodist and African Methodist Episcopal Zion churches came together to review changes to the CWU bylaws and standing rules and to plan the celebrations for the coming year. Below are the scheduled celebrations for 2016. All women of the community are invited to participate.

— Annual Meeting: Sunday, Feb. 7, 3-4:30 p.m. at Southern City AME Zion at 940 S. Long St. The Valiant Women award will be presented. The budget for 2016 will be adopted and refreshments will be served. Hands-on mission project is personal hygiene and toiletry items for nursing home residents.

— Prayer Breakfast: Saturday, March 5, 9 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian at 300 S. Caldwell St. Chair person is the Rev. Barbara Barbour. Theme: Anchored in Prayer by God’s Grace. Hands-on mission project is canned goods for Rowan Helping Ministries and personal toiletry items for the shelter guests.

— May Friendship Day: Friday, May 6, noon at Christ United Methodist Church. Outstanding Young Church Women will be recognized. Chairperson is Vicki Kotlarz. Hands-on mission project will be announced.

— Human Rights Celebration: Friday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. at Sandy Ridge AME Zion in Landis. Chairperson is Catherine Rivens. Hands-on mission project is school supplies for Communities in Schools.

— World Community Day: Friday, Nov. 7 at noon. The location and hands-on mission project will be announced. Chairperson is Gloria Bradshaw.
