Catawba’s softball team swept North Greenville in a doubleheader at Whitley Field on Monday, winning 9-1 and 6-0.
Preston Ellenberg pitched the opening game that went five innings.
Ellenberg, Katherine Shumaker and Kristen Stinnard had two hits each.
In the second game, Caroline Turner pitched a seven-inning shutout and struck out eight. Carley Tysinger and Morgan Brann homered for the Indians (4-0). Shumaker and Holli Chandler had two hits each.
Catawba hosts Pfeiffer on Wednesday.

Matt Honeycutt (South Rowan) had a tiebreaking double in the sixth inning of a win on Saturday against Kutztown.

Catawba’s women opened the spring season at the Kiawah Invitational over the weekend.
Victoria Hedrick was the top finisher for Catawba with a two-round total of 170 to finish 51st.

Catawba’s Bri Johnson was named the SAC’s women’s basketball player of the week.
The junior averaged 25.5 points per game to lead the Indians to two wins.

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Notre Dame coach Mike Brey was glad Zach Auguste got mad after spending much of the first half on the bench in foul trouble in the Fighting Irish’s 89-83 win over Clemson on Monday night.
Auguste dominated both the offensive and defensive end, scored 15 of his 19 points during the final 20 minutes and held the Tigers two centers to just five points and five rebounds.
“He was a man — what he gave us in the second half,” Brey said.
The win keeps Notre Dame (17-7, 8-4 Atlantic Coast) in line to finish in the top four seeds at the ACC tournament and get a double bye.
