SALISBURY – Harry Edwin McCora Sr., age 79, of Salisbury, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, at the VA Medical Center of Augusta, Ga. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;Born Jan. 5, 1927, in Rowan County, Mr. McCora was a son of the late Patrick William McCora Jr. and Annie Heilig McCora. He was a 1944 graduate of Boyden High School and was a graduate of McCrarrie School of Mechanical Dentistry in Philadelphia. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;A Radioman Third Class in the U.S. Navy, Mr. McCora served on LST boats during World War II. He worked 26 years for Southern Railway and seven years for the North Carolina Department of Corrections as a sergeant. He also worked part-time for Austin’s Refrigeration. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;Mr. McCora was of the Presbyterian faith; was a member of VFW Post 3006, Harold B. Jarrett Post 342, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Merchants Patrol; was a former honorary auxiliary member of State of North Carolina Sheriff’s Association; and was an Eagle Scout. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;Preceding him in death were son Harry Edwin McCora Jr. in 2001; daughter Sissy McCora in 1995; great-grandson Trevor Eugene Weast in 1999; and brother Patrick William McCora III in 1949. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;Surviving are wife Linda Creason McCora, whom he married Aug. 23, 1961; sons Patrick William (Bill) McCora and wife Paula Michelle and Thomas Lee McCora, all of Salisbury; daughter Shelia McCora Jarrell and husband James Ray Jarrell of Spencer; grandchildren Tricia Lin Weast, Daniel Alan McCora, Harry E. McCora III, Brandon Alexander McCora, Christian Scott McCora, Staci Ronnell Carter, James Ray (Tripp) Jarrell III, Caleb Thomas McCora, Jacob Taylor McCora, Cody Blake Taylor and Brandon Lee Hawkins; and great-grandchildren Brittany Alan McCora, Mallory Anne McCora, Timothy Gray Carter, Kailynn Belle Misenheimer, Timothy Earl Misenheimer Jr. and Trenton Ray Weast Jr. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;Visitation: 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lyerly Funeral Home. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;Graveside service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rowan Memorial Park conducted by a VA chaplain. & lt;br & gt; & lt;br & gt;Memorials: Special Olym-pics, 1133 19th St. N.W., Washington, DC 20036; March of Dimes, 1275 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, NY 10605; ARC of Rowan County, 1918 W.
