Floyd Jackson Coone, 73, Kannapolis, died Friday (Dec. 1, 2006) at a brother’s home after a brief illness.

Born Nov. 20, 1933, in Rowan County, Mr. Coone was a son of the late Floyd Elliott and Carrie Byrd Coone.

Educated in the Kannapolis City Schools, he worked for years in the spinning room at Cannon Mills Plant 7, retiring in 1999.

He attended North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church most of his life and had his picture made with many country-western singers through the years.

Survivors include brothers Paul Coone, San Antonio, Texas, Melvin Coone, China Grove, and Jimmy and David Coone, both of Kannapolis; sisters Lillie Edwards, Concord, Brenda Coone, Salisbury, and Margie Moore and Evelyn Roseman, both of Kannapolis; and special friend Maybelle Kluttz, Kannapolis.

A service was held Monday (Dec. 4, 2006) at Whitley’s Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Susan German. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove.
