The Arbor United Methodist
The Arbor United Methodist Church, 5545 Woodleaf Road, will have a National Day of Prayer Service Thursday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. The theme for the service is “Wake Up America” and the community is invited for this special time of prayer for our nation.
Town of East Spencer
National Day of Prayer will be celebrated on the steps of Town Hall, 105 South Long St. at noon on Thursday. The Rev. Carl Gray of New Life Community Church of East Spencer will lead in prayer for our nation, community and leadership.

Free stuff at Lane Street Baptist today
KANNAPOLIS — Today is Love Thy Neighbor Day at Lane Street Baptist Church, beginning at 9 a.m. — it’s a free give away being held at the Marvin Brothers Youth Building and includes children’s items, some small furniture, holiday items, glassware and dishes, clothing, and much more. Bring boxes and wrapping paper if needed. Hot dog with all the trimmings will be available beginning at 11 a.m.. Remember, everything is free.

Today from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2300 Bringle Ferry Road, is hosting its first Spring to Jesus Extravaganza, featuring free food, snowcones, popcorn, pony rides, bounce houses and games with prizes.
Annual ‘Mayberry Daze’ is tonight
CHINA GROVE — This evening at 7 p.m. , the Mount Zion Players of Mount Zion UCC will present an encore presentation of Mayberry Daze, “Aunt Bee the Warden.” The cost is $10 per person or $30 per family with children. Proceeds will go towards the new construction fund.

Neal Wilkinson sings at 88th homecoming celebration
CHINA GROVE — South China Grove Baptist Church, 501 Haney St., will celebrate its 88th year during homecoming service on Sunday. The special worship service begins at 10:45 a.m. (earlier than normal). Opening the worship service will be music by Neal Wilkinson, well known in this area for his solos in productions at First Baptist Church Salisbury, Piedmont Players, and many other venues such as singing the National Anthem at ballgames all over the U.S.
Also during the service will be music by Lauren Wagoner and her sisters, and a message given by Coach Joe Pinyan, who grew up with the SCGBC family.
A covered dish meal in the family life center follows the service. Former members and families are extended a special invitation.
The church is located one block off of Thom Street between Hwy 29 and South Main St. Host pastor is the Rev. Tony Wagoner.
