One person is dead and another is hospitalized following a Saturday morning accident on Stokes Ferry Road.
Phantasha Krystal Sky Cook, 22, was killed when she allegedly crossed the center line of Stokes Ferry Road and struck another vehicle — occupied by Jennifer Lasure, 40. Lasure was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem with numerous broken bones, said N.C. Highway Patrol trooper Bradley Potts. Both women are from Salisbury, Potts said.
The cause of the accident is unclear. However, Potts said he found drug paraphernalia in Cook’s 2015 Nissan Altima. He said drugs may have been a factor in the accident. In a separate, March incident, Cook was arrested on a number of drug-related charges.
Potts said Cook was driving West on Stokes Ferry Road when she crossed the center line. Lasure, driving a 2007 Ford Mustang, was traveling in the opposite direction, Potts said. The accident occurred at about 7:30 a.m.
When first responders arrived at the scene of the accident, Cook’s vehicle was sitting in the middle of Stokes Ferry Road. Lasure’s vehicle was in an embankment on the side of the road.
Potts said he hasn’t received an update on Lasure’s condition.
