The 2014 Hood Theological Seminary Black History Planning Team will hold celebrations throughout February, focusing on the theme “Celebrating Black History: Moving Our Feet Toward Unity and Community.”
The celebrations will begin with weekly chapel services Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 10:10 a.m. to include seminary student preachers as well as guest preachers from various churches and denominations. The schedule of services is as follows:

A culminating event will be held Thursday, Feb. 27, 7 p.m., in the newly constructed Hood Refectory. The event will include singing, African drumming, Libation Ceremony, poetry, dance, a re-enacted sermon and interactive discussion conducted by Dr. André Resner, professor of homiletics and church worship. Hood Theological Seminary, located at 1810 Lutheran Synod Drive, is an African Methodist Episcopal Zion institution founded in 1903 and named after Bishop James Walker Hood, who cherished a dream of training qualified Negro youths for the Christian Ministry.
