SALISBURY — Salisbury Police were searching Tuesday for a local man who they say walked away from a veterans home and is believed to be suffering from dementia.
A Silver Alert from the N.C. Center for Missing Persons was issued for Luigi Aloysuis Pontes, who was last seen at 1030 S. Church St., but more recently was seen in Charlotte on Monday, said Police Capt. Shelia Lingle.
She said it’s not clear where Pontes was headed, but he used to live in Charlotte. She said investigators also don’t know how Pontes got to Charlotte, since he left on foot.
Residents are asked to be on the lookout for Pontes, who is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.
He is 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighs 170 pounds and has short gray hair. His eye color is unknown. Pontes’ date of birth is June 21, 1960.
Anyone with information about Luigi Aloysuis Pontes should call G.L. Summers at the Salisbury Police Department at 704-638-5333.
