Remember the first Pops at the Post concert?

The Salisbury Symphony’s first Pops at the Post concert was held in 2005 —the Salisbury Post’s gift to the community as the paper celebrated its 100th anniversary.
The logistics required ingenuity. The symphony orchestra set up in the Post’s loading dock area, which functioned as a band shell of sorts. The city closed the 100 block of South Church Street. Chairs were set up in the street and in the parking lots nearby.
The concert was an instant hit — one many people wanted to see repeated.
Since 2005, businesses and philanthropists have given generously to keep the concert going, and it has become a community event. Pops at the Post became a nonprofit in 2012; donations are tax-deductible.
How to give
Volunteers will pass the hat to collect donations from concert-goers Saturday.
Donations can be sent to Pops at the Post, P.O. Box 4639, Salisbury, NC 28145. Make checks payable to Pops at the Post.
