Bridge returns

After a seven week hiatus necessitated by my medical condition, I am able to resume writing about our Salisbury games.

Dick Brisbin will continue to run the games for a while longer but I plan to try to run a game or two over the next month until I can fully resume my responsibilities. I am eternally grateful to all of you, my bridge family, for all the support given to me and John over the past two months with get well cards, food and help with the house. You are truly our family. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

So many of you have been taking advantage of nearby tournaments to advance your point standings and have succeeded. These players have earned enough points to advance in their standings: Fern Albracht and Pat Macon earning 100 points became Regional Masters; Judy Gealy winning 200 points became an NABC Master; and Shirley Jeffers became an Advanced NABC Master achieving 300 points. Congratulations all.

Our Friday May 27 Evergreen game was well attended. Winning were: 1st Judy Gealy and Carol Bachl, 2nd Pat Featherston and Dick Brisbin, 3rd Georgia Sorensen and John McLaughlin, 4th Joe O’Brien and Genny Mozolak, and 5th Nancy Brandt and Judy Hurder.

Featured is board # 26 from the May 27th game. All Vulnerable East dealer

The best N/S score was made by Andra Cozart and Jan Glover biding 5H*S making while the best E/W score was 5S*E making by Pat Featherston and Dick Brisbin. Not often is a bid of 5 in a major doubled and then made by opposing directions in the same hand.

Our Women’s Club Tuesday May 31 game was small but I was able to direct it. I know I’m not ready to resume normal activity after today.

Winning 1st Georgia Sorensen and Wade Lowder, 2nd Pat Macon and John McLaughlin.
