C.O. Vanderburg

Clarence Oscar Vanderburg, 81, Kannapolis, died Sunday (Dec. 17, 2006) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born April 18, 1925, Mr. Vanderburg was a son of the late Fred. L. and Maggie S. Vanderburg.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. While living of 515 W. Eighth St., he worked 45 years in the Spinning Department at Cannon Mills Plant 7. In later years, he lived at First Assembly Living Center.
An avid outdoorsman, he would sometimes camp for weeks at a time with his grandchildren.
His wife, Arelen W. Vanderburg, died in May 1991.
Survivors include daughter Kathy V. Beam, Kannapolis; son Kenneth L. Rummage, Asheboro; and five grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. today (Dec. 20, 2006), Kannapolis Cemetery, with military honors.
Visitation: 1-2 p.m. today, Whitley’s Funeral Home and at other times at the home of daughter Kathy V. Beam, 575 Russell Farm Road.
