Ila Winecoff Benson

WOODLEAF – Ila Corrine Winecoff Benson, 88, of Woodleaf, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born Jan. 12, 1918 in Iredell County, Mrs. Benson was the daughter of the late James “Floyd” and Florence Wilhelm Winecoff. She was educated in Rowan County schools and graduated from Mount Ulla High School. Ila was employed at Woodleaf School for 25 years before retiring.
Mrs. Benson was a member of Woodleaf United Methodist Church, the Ladies and Mens Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Worth Rice Benson, on Jan. 5, 1972.
Survivors include daughters Judy Wood and husband Larry of Clemmons and Elizabeth Pearce of Salisbury; grandchildren; William Chadwick Gardner of Raleigh, Bradley Owen Wood and his wife Susan of Winston-Salem, Lora Elizabeth Gardner of Cary, and great-grandchildren Owen Patrick Wood, Elizabeth Corrine Wood and Samuel Anderson Wood.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at Summersett Funeral Home from 10-11 a.m. Friday.
Service: Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Summersett Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ron Hartman, pastor of Woodleaf United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.
