Frances Miller Ward

SALISBURY – Frances Miller Ward, 88, of Salisbury, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born July 29, 1918, in Hopewell, Va., Mrs. Ward was the daughter of the late George Luther and Mary Barringer Miller. She was educated in Spencer schools, graduated from Spencer High School and attended Mitchell College in Statesville.
She was employed by the U.S. Postal Service at Wood-leaf and Cooleemee before retiring. Mrs. Ward was a member of Franklin Presbyterian Church, the Ladies Sunday School Class and Women of the Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Wesley Ward, on Sept. 25, 1995, and a son, John Wesley “J.W.” Ward, on July 27, 2005.
Mrs. Ward is survived by son Harry Miller Ward of Salisbury; daughters-in-law Fran-ces Raney Ward of Salisbury and Norma Ward of St. Louis, Mo.; sister Martha Ellen Miller of Salisbury; grandchildren Lori Parks of Marion, Tony Ward of Salisbury and Mike Ward of St. Louis, Mo.; and great-grandchildren Leah Monday, Tanner Parks and Emmanuel Parks.
Service: Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Summersett Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dr. Larry E. Summey, pastor of Franklin Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at Summersett Funeral Home from 10-11 a.m. Friday.
