Annual Eagle reunion is today 

The annual Eagle reunion, always held the first Sunday in August, is today at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 9275 Bringle Ferry Road. The 10:30 a.m. church service is held on the site where Solomon Eagle Sr. helped establish the church in 1837. His gravestone is visible in the cemetery where many family ancestors are buried. The reunion and covered dish dinner begins at 12:30 p.m. Cups, plates, utensils and ice will be provided.

Rose Hill Baptist celebrates 75 years

KANNAPOLIS – Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 216 Rice St., is celebrating its 75th anniversary beginning today with Community Day from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

On Sunday, Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. 75 Years of Music will be presented featuring the Rose Hill Mass Choir. Brunch will be served after the service.

Saturday, Aug. 13: The anniversary banquet will be held at Living Water Church of God, 166 North Little Texas Road. The Rev. Dr. Leonzo D. Lynch from Ebenezer Baptist Church of Charlotte will be the guest speaker.

The anniversary will conclude with a 10 a.m. service on Sunday, Aug. 14 with guest speaker Rev. Dr. Casey R. Kimbrough, pastor of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Charlotte.

 

Cedar Grove Gospel Choir 

Cedar Grove Gospel Choir will celebrate their 59th anniversary on today, Aug.  6,    beginning at 6  p.m. In- and out-of-town groups will participate.   The anniversary will conclude on Sunday   at 3  p.m. with the Rev. Carolyn Bratton, pastor of Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church, as the guest speaker.  The Rev. Bertha Pittman is the pastor of Cedar Grove.

 

100 Men In Black Choir Concert

PIC  Jerusalem Baptist Church will host the North Rowan Connection 100 Men In Black Choir Concert today Saturday Aug.  6, at 5 p.m. at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Long Street. The choir is under the direction of Mr. Milton Griffith. All proceeds benefit the North Rowan Connection “Hope Scholarship.”

This year’s soloists include Eugene Nunn, George Heggins, Kenneth Abel, Jaylen Walker, Thad Harris, Albert Horne, Randy Hyde, Keith Holland, Eric Holland, Maurice Hooper and Eric Reid.

This year’s concert is dedicated to the memories of Thomas Morgan, Evelyn Clayburn and Essie Mae Foxx. The master of ceremonies is Roland Carter.

The City of East Spencer will be making a presentation at this event.

 

Old Country Baptist Church

Rick Hildebrand, missionary to the American prisons and schools, will be the guest speaker at the 11 a.m. homecoming service at Old Country Baptist Church, 627 Faith Road, on Sunday. A covered dish meal will follow the service.

 

Homestead Baptist Church

KANNAPOLIS — Pastor Chad Miller will be preaching and Redemption will be singing at Homestead Baptist Church on Sunday at the 11 a.m. and 6  p.m.  services. The church is located on the corner of West 22nd Street and US 29 A.

 

Homecoming and revival at Macedonia

Macedonia Missionary Baptist church, Salisbury, will host its annual homecoming and revival Aug.  7-12 . The Sunday worship service is at 11 am.

At 3 p.m., the word will be brought by the Rev. Calvin Miller, presiding elder of the Winston-Salem District of the AMEN Zion Church.

Revival will be held at 7 p.m. each night. The guest speakers and their churches are as follows:

Oak Grove Baptist homecoming and revival

CHINA GROVE — Oak Grove Baptist Church, 1205 S. Main St., will celebrate homecoming on Sunday at 3 p.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Harold Jordan, pastor at Third Creek AME Zion Church of Cleveland. Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Revival services run Monday-Friday, Aug. 8-12 at 7 p.m.

East Spencer — The annual Fall revival at Love Christian Center, 102 N. Long St., is Wednesday through Friday, Aug.  10-12 at 7:30 p.m. Revival speaker is Bishop Derek D. Kelley, pastor at New Faith Full Gospel Deliverance Center of Lexington.

Bishop Kelly is a native of Salisbury,  is an accomplished songwriter and musician receiving numerous awards. He served at his home church, New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Linwood, before being installed as the senior pastor of New Faith Baptist Church of Lexington.

In 2006, Apostle Kelly was consecrated as a Bishop. He holds  an associate degree in Biblical studies and completed a bachelor of arts degree in religion and philosophy from Shaw University.

ROCKWELL – As part of its “Lyerly Church Cares” community outreach, Lyerly Evangelical Church, 1320 Crescent Road, will begin an after-school care program on Aug. 29, serving children from area elementary schools ages K-5th grade from 2:30-6 p.m. each day at a reasonable cost.
