CHINA GROVE — Franklin Thomas Tadlock, 70, 930 Daugherty Road, died Jan. 2, 2007, at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, following lengthy treatment for a brain tumor.

Born April 19, 1936, in Pageland, S.C., Mr. Tadlock was a son of the late Vernon Preston and Minnie Evans Tadlock.

Educated in the Pageland, S.C., schools and at Rowan Tech and Catawba College, he was a longtime member of First Reformed Church, Landis, where he had served as Sunday school superintendent, youth adviser, deacon, president of the Consistory and as a member of the Long Range Planning and Pastor Search committees.

President of Frank Corriher Beef and Sausage Co. for many years, he also had served as president of the N.C. Meat Processors Association and as president and treasurer of the American Meat Processors Association.

He was a member of the Rowan County Board of Commissioners for 10 years, several as chairman, and was involved with many fundraisers for political campaigns.

He was active in the South Rowan YMCA and the Service Club and chaired the Capital Campaign Committee for building the South Y. He was instrumental in getting the new South Rowan Library, which is named in his honor.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda Sue Corriher Tadlock; sons Jon, Carl and Brian Tadlock, all of Landis; brothers Gerald Tadlock, Murrells Inlet, S.C., and Harold Tadlock, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sisters Eunice Gibson, Concord, and Carolyn Terry, Badin; and five grandchildren.

A service was held Saturday at First Reformed Church, conducted by the Rev. David Franks. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park.
