Rowan weather: Heat index around 100 today

The heat and humidity returned over the weekend, and will be with us throughout the week, although temperatures will be in the upper 80s by Thursday.

Today will bring some patchy fog before 9 a.m., then be mostly sunny, with a high of 93 and heat index values around 100. Calm wind will blow from the south at 5-7 mph this afternoon.

Tonight has a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m., and will be partly cloudy and 74. South wind at 3-5 mph.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny and 91, with little wind to start, then south southwest at 5-7 mph. The low will be a muggy 74 again, with south wind at 3-5 mph.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny and 90, with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Wind will be mostly calm, picking up to just 6 mph from the southwest in the afternoon. The chance of rain goes up to 40 percent Wednesday night, with a low of 73.

Thursday also has a 40 percent chance of showers and storms, starting as early as 9 a.m. It will be mostly cloudy with a high of 88. The same chance of rain lingers Thursday night, with a low of 71.

For Friday, just a 30 percent chance of showers after 1 p.m. Partly sunny skies will lead to a high near 88. The same chance of rain continues Friday night, with a low of 71.

Saturday, we’re back to a 40 percent chance of showers and storms, with partly sunny skies and a high of 88. There’s still a 40 percent chance of showers and storms Saturday night, with a low of 70.

Sunday, too, has a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with mostly cloudy skies and a high of 87.
