CONCORD — Mary Joan “Kitty” White Detar, 75, 947 Kannapolis Parkway, died Dec. 30, 2006, at NorthEast Medical Center.

Born Oct. 11, 1931, in Pittsburgh, Pa., Mrs. Detar was a daughter of the late Jerome C. and Eva Mae Jones White.

Educated in Pennsylvania schools, she was a homemaker and volunteer with the American Red Cross.

Her husband, Vaughn A. Detar, died in September 2005.

Survivors include sons Scott Detar, Franklin, Va., Brian Detar, Fort Mill, S.C., and Steve Detar, Mount Pleasant, S.C.; daughter Vaughna Lindsay, Newark Valley, N.Y.; and nine grandchildren.

A service was held Friday (Jan. 5, 2007) at Whitley’s Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Mitch Wilson. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
